Persontal Treatment
TB is a bacterial infection which is contagious. It spreads through droplet infection.
It mostly affects the lungs but can affect any part of the body including abdomen, bones, vital organs, and nervous system. People with weakened immune system and children living with TB affected people are at risk.
Symptoms
- Persistent cough that brings up phlegm
- Weight loss
- Night sweats
- High temperature
- Tiredness and fatigue
- Swollen nodes
Diagnosis
- It can be made by testing the sputum sample for the bacteria
Treatment
- Tuberculosis treatment requires a strict course of antibiotics for a minimum of 6 months
- Drug resistant TB may require treatment for longer duration with different drugs
