Appendicitis is the inflammation of appendix because of which it gets filled with pus causing pain. Although anyone can develop appendicitis, it is more common in people between 10 and 30 years of age. It may result as a blockage of lining of appendix that causes bacteria to multiply.

Diagnosis

  • Symptoms include sudden pain that begins around navel and shifts to lower right abdomen.
  • Other symptoms include nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite and low-grade fever
  • Appendicitis can rupture spreading infection throughout your abdomen.It is life threatening requiring immediate surgery

Treatment

  • Treatment includes appendicectomy (removal of appendix). Antibiotics may be used to treat the infection
