Enlarged heart is a condition in which muscle wall of the heart’s left pumping chamber (ventricle) becomes thickened. Heart like other muscle gets thicker when it made to work harder than normal. The common causes include high blood pressure, valve diseases, hypertrophic obstructive cardio myotherapy (HOCM), congenital heart disease.

Symptoms

  • It includes shortness of breath, chest pain, fainting, and rapid heartbeat.

Diagnosis

  • It can be made with ECG.

Treatment

  • Treatment depends on treating the cause. Antihypertensive drug may prevent further enlargement of heart.
